The value in challenging yourself is to give yourself some accomplishment for something which most people can’t do. Today carrying half of a full bag at an incline of 633 feet per mile is difficult and tiresome. Afterwards there’s a sense of enthusiasm which makes you want to repeat the same trip on another day.

To me wilderness means to be untamed. In the city everything is controlled by everyones whim. Traffic has its standards, buildings have the same shape, and the people have less respect for each other. Out in the wild is another story all together. Here, where the silence and diversity is steady enough that its almost haunting to someone who doesn’t know about nature.
