The thing, at least the one thing I want to remember from this trip is my last walk down the trail alone. I want to remember the cool air and the clearest sky I’ve ever known. I want to remember the steep drops and various rocks. I want to remember the trees, their smell of something healthy, the feel of something alive and sturdy. I want to remember the songs that the wind whistled. I want to remember the heart of this place, and how our feet made it beat. “If we listen closely with our hearts we can hear the earth silently singing.”
