Excitement and Expectation

I'm really happy we got here already. I thought we were never going to get here. I twisted my ankle really badly. And that made it hard for me to hike uphill. The good thing was that my group members helped me out a lot. So did Jamie and Lena. I'm so happy they were really patient with me.

Rancheria Falls at Night: 10/31/01

It's amazing out here. I'm sitting on a big rock, it's smooth and hard in different spots. It's really close to a beautiful waterfall. The sound of it is fresh, deep and angry. It's running really quickly. I even feel the cool breeze from the waterfall.

Wilderness in my past, present, and future...

Past: Didn't notice it, didn't really appreciate this place either.

Present: I like this place. It's pretty cool. I think it's awesome.

Future: I plan to come back someday.

New Experiences and a Changed Perspective

I have never hiked up and downhill six miles in one day. This is a totally new experience for me. I liked it but it was really hard for me. I got tired really easily. But it was great. Another new experience was that I saw my first bear in Rancheria Creek. It was really cool. The most important thing from this trip was to appreciate what we have.
