To me wilderness means an escape. Escape from my everyday living, from my problems, at least a lot of them. There's an automatic awe and relaxation that comes over me when I enter the wilderness. Now that I have a relationship with the wilderness I don’t want to let it go for the rest of my life.
How will I take Wilderness with me when I leave?
I won’t I’ll come back, I’ll miss the songs sung by the birds. I’ll miss the colorful rocks, and the abundance and varieties of trees. I think I’ll hike a lot more now and hopefully backpack too. Although one way I will take wilderness with me is when I see selflessness I will think of this trip. That was my word of the day the first day and I tried really hard to emulate that in me and acknowledge it in others.
