  • Yosemite National Park: Hetch Hetchy Reservoir

New Village Girls Academy, from Los Angeles, participated in WildLink for the first time! They spent two nights in Yosemite Valley and three nights basecamping in Yosemite's Wilderness at Rancheria Falls. The all-girls group bonded over dance moves, silly faces, and time by the river. Many of the students said it was the hardest thing they had ever done, but they all felt accomplished in the end.

Date: April 24th

The quote “Everything happens for a reason” has been pretty much what surrounds me in life and thoughts. And there is a reason why I ended in this hiking trip. So far its been pretty amazing besides the whole backpacking hike, 6 miles with literally 50 pounds on your back was so tiring. It felt like a never-ending hike, but once we got to our campsite everything seemed so mellow and peaceful falling asleep to the sound of the waterfall next to us, waking up to the most delicious food ever; I was quite in the glory. I really thank our instructors and our teachers that brought us here quite an amazing-unforgettable trip. :) PS: Would def. come back during the summer.
Sincerely,
Jisel

We made it up to LeConte Point. It was a very long and tiring hike but the feeling you feel when you’re up there is awesome. I was so tiered and wanted to give up but I just had to make it to the top. I had to push myself and drink plenty of water because or else I would of passed out. It’s so beautiful and relaxing up there. It was the most peacefulest feeling ever. I would so go up there again one day because after going up there once I feel like I can do anything. It felt like I was on top of the world. I was so awesome up there and all that tiring hike was so worth it. Our prize for making it up there was gummy worms so awesome. Everyone should go up there one day.

Yesterday 04/25/13 was a good chill day. I experienced my first “Baking Brownies.” It was weird but cool cause I marked my territory, though I was gonna last till today. But I didn’t. I liked the moment we had, when we chose a spot to sit and relax on our own just writing in our journal. But last night was amazing. I felt like we were a family cause a lot of girls open up to each other and we were all emotional. This was a great experience and I’m glad I got to come.
