At the arch I think I realized people come to peaceful natural spots like this to just simply get away from the stress of their everyday lives. Seeing breathtaking views like the arch help you to just forget about your problems and relax. It really gives you a chance to clear your mind and simply refresh yourself. It truly is great to just sit and see views like this. Places like this are a breath of fresh air. I think more people should see sights like this not only for the amazing views, but also just to clear the mind.
Today we have hiked quite a distance we are now sitting at Yosemite point with a great view of where we just came from North Dome. Sitting here at the point we see guard rails to prevent people from falling and also along the path we have seen a few trail markers. The question brought up was what do we think about these sort of things in the wilderness and what we would build if we managed a Wilderness like Yosemite. So basically, I think its ok in a public area, like Yosemite Valley, to have cabins and restrooms built, but in the back country type area I think there should only be enough signs and safety restrictions as to make sure people don’t get lost or severely injured. I think there should be no buildings in the back country so the wilderness stays natural and truly breathtaking.
Today we have hiked a difficult windy trail back to the valley. This means our trip is coming to an end and it also means time to reflect on our most memorable moment. The moment that sticks out to me the most has got to be reaching the top of El Capitan and journaling. Not only was it amazing to feel the serenity and peacefulness of El Capitan, but it was also suprising to see just how far we walked. To be able to see what we accomplished together simply makes the trip great for me. However, now it is time to begin our return home and I know these spectacular moments will live with me for a very long time.
