Hello, my name is Roberto

Hello, my name is Roberto. I'm 16 years old and I am a sophomore at West High School in Bakersfield, California. This trip is very exciting. I recommend it highly for students. There are a couple of reasons why I chose to come to Yosemite. One is that I get two weeks spring break, last week was spring break and this week is WildLink, so I'm a very lucky guy. The other reason is that I'm the only guy from my school going to WildLink. I'm trapped with five opened minded girls and I think this is pretty cool. They sometimes tend to boss me around but I'm used to being told what to do by girls. I've learned many things from the first day. But the first day I forgot. But from the second day I learned that teamwork is very vital for survival in nature. I wished I brought a camera so I can take pictures. In the short hike it was very cool.

I've fell many times to the ground due to the snow but I still kept on going. Word of advice, watch out for big holes in the ground when fallen it is very painful. I'm looking forward for doing this again next year. The trees are huge, a lot of trees had fallen. I haven't seen any animals yet, no bears or other forest animal.

The group heads down a treacherous snowy slope to the Tuolumne Grove of Giant Sequoias. Roberto slips into a few holes in the snow.

Day Three

This is now day three of the WildLink program. Now the group and myself are backpacking. The view of the forest is just beautiful and I think words cannot describe such beauty. As a religious person, I'm grateful that God made this beauty of land.

WildLink is a proud partner of the National Park Service, National Forest Service, and Nature Bridge.
