The fact that I’ve always wanted to go backpacking made me do this trip. I’ve always been on long day hikes, but never backpacking anywhere. Another reason was that I wanted to go into and explore some of Yosemite’s backcountry.

My role in wilderness has been trying to preserve meadows and plants by staying on trail and not stepping on any of the plans or flowers. I like to do a lot of challenging hikes, so I didn’t find the hike itself so difficult. The one thing I did find a little bit challenging was having to carry the really big backpacking backpack with me because even though it was pretty light, the backpack was a little bit bigger than me.

Now that I’m up here, I feel very accomplished and motivated to continue doing more challenge hikes. I feel lucky enough to be up top and have such an amazing view because not many people are capable of pushing themselves that hard and try something that they might be uncomfortable with.
