  • Yosemite National Park: Porcupine Creek to Yosemite Valley

Students from Jill Kinmont Boothe High School in Bishop, California, and Turlock High School came together for the first WildLink expedition of the 2005-2006 school year.

Despite some questionable fall weather, the group was able to begin their journey in the High Sierra of Yosemite at Porcupine Creek. They spent four days making their way down to Yosemite Valley with some challenging side trips, such as summiting North Dome.

Two of the participants, Joey and Natalie, were both returning WildLink alumni. It was Joey's first time in the backcountry with WildLink, however, because he was sidelined last year before setting out backpacking due to a back injury. We were very happy that he was able to join us for the full week this time.

The group explored the Wilderness through personal adventure, journaling, critical thinking debates and water quality testing. WildLink would like to recognize this group for a job well done, and we wish them many happy returns to the Wilderness in the future!
