  • Yosemite National Park: Merced Grove Cabin

This "Wolf Pack" of students from Turlock High School faced a late winter storm of epic proportions: 18-20" of fresh powder! The group coped by staying in the historic Merced Grove Cabin, facing every situation with positivity, snowball fights, and playing Mafia and Go Fish. The group's maturity shined through as they demonstrated inclusion for diverse perspectives and participated in spirited discussion about national Wilderness with NPS Wilderness Ranger Lissie.

Date: 4/1/14

We hiked to the Merced Grove. There is a cabin. Today is our first night. We had a snowball war for 3 to 4 hours. I got covered in snow. My name is Leo. It was fun. We had a blast then we had dinner. It was mac and cheese. It was great. I put salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and garlic. Alex and Flapjack made a snowman and so did Zack, Natasha, and Jazzmin.

The sequoia trees among other ones are of the most beautiful I have ever seen. No amount of human beauty or things I may have see on on T.V. will ever compare to the sheer awesomeness of the views I have seen and what I will see in the coming days or years or even the rest of my life.

I wish I can just have this place to myself no sign of human life, not even my own self. I wish I can just become the wind and effortlessly meander around the trees.
