What does the Wilderness mean to you?

The wilderness or nature is very important to me, and I didn’t realize it until I came on this amazing trip. I have left all my problems behind and focus on the present. This place is amazing; it is beautiful, and I don’t plan on wasting this opportunity on the negative things that are at home. I feel free. I feel in danger, but yet so safe. I feel like I finally found a connection to nature, and to myself. I feel like I am finally beginning to live a little. This marks the beginning of a new life choice for me. I love the feeling this place has given me. I found peace.

How has wilderness influenced your idea of woman/womyn or being a woman/womyn?

Being in the wilderness has made me stronger. I feel a lot more brave. I see the rock climbers and I think to myself, “I am strong enough to do that.” That makes me feel like a womyn. Womyn are strong. We deal with stuff that would take a strong person to deal with and not give up. I feel like a womyn. For once in my life I feel like I don’t have to worry about fitting in. I don’t have to worry about getting love from anyone else. I have myself. As a woman, I should love myself before I learn to appreciate the love from anyone else. What makes this so much more better is feeling like I belong here. I don’t ever want to leave.

Three things that are my strengths

  • To be able to keep calm and just be happy
  • I can force myself not to give up.
  • I can accomplish my goals.

These things can definitely help me accomplish my dreams in many ways. Whenever you’re in a problem or you’re in a disagreement with someone, I think the best thing to do is to keep calm, and to not let these problems get to you. Be happy, that is a main thing that you will need in life. I have the ability not to give up, and all the people (successful) that I’ve met on this trip alone always say, Do Not give up. You will not reach your destination if you stop at the first or the second or any bump on the road. Whenever I set a goal for myself, I will accomplish it. It might take me some time, actually a long time, but I will accomplish my goal, and not giving up has always helped me with that.
