Wilderness is…

…the giant sequoias that grow to be 3,500 years old.
…the snowflakes that nestle around them like a powdered sugar blanket.
…the deer and bears that make their home here, leaving nothing but tracks for us to observe on our way.

Its value lies beneath the soft snow that we use to make snowmen named Joey; its value lies within the tall trees that tell a story with every ring; its value lies beyond the stars at night, each one shining brighter than the last; its value surpasses its natural beauty.

This experience meant long hikes, cold toes, and warm fires. The experience meant no showers, smelly cabins and savory foods. The experience meant new friends, spirit walks and lasting memories. The experience was an awakening.
