Wilderness has value to me because it is beautiful, something I have never seen or even done, like climb to the top of Mount Hoffman, getting all dirty, getting cuts, sleeping outside in the cold, underneath the stars. When I'm in the [central] valley I don't get to see or possibly even do that stuff which is actually pretty sad.
