One of the greatest journeys offered to us in this life is the discovery of oneself. It is often too easy to sit back and allow oneself to just coast, not ask the hard questions, not push oneself beyond one's comfort zone. These 2 days have been a stretch. Usually a shy person, I have a difficult time stepping into groups, especially ones already formed, but with effort and much hope from this group (who is so warm and inviting) I felt I made some progress. Being capable of functioning in a world where you don't know everyone is a skill land it's up to you to decide who you want to be in life. In my opinion you have choices; to let the world define you or to find the courage to define yourself. We all face defining moments in our lives. Some may be small victories; while others are huge victories, but when it comes right down to it the important thing is that is was a victory. These 2 days have been a small victory, but an important one, and the more I work at not allowing being shy to stand in the way of what I want I will continue to win the war of self-discovery.
