Wilderness is:

The wilderness to me is the like a forest with no communication, any cars, or houses; things that are not everyday resources. Wilderness is peace and quiet; to be able to listen to birds, animals and even an insect. Wilderness is to be able to smell the trees, the grass, the air. Better yet, it is to be able to breathe and taste clean air. It is just to connect and be a part of the wilderness. More like when Tarzan grew up. Is to build a fire with wood you have gathered and made a fire without using matches. It is to look at the stars without any other lights around.

Thoughts on Hiking Alone:

Going by myself was great. When I was out there it felt like it was just me and Hites Cove. I listened to the water. It was so pretty, I don't want to go back. I would stop to observe the view. The hike gave me some alone time for myself. It gave me time to think about this experience and also to just think about my life.

Have You Ever:

  • slept under wet grass and rocks?
  • gone hiking when it was raining?
  • read under pouring rain?
  • eaten cold tortillas with peanut butter and jelly?
